My Introduction to Church History

Nauvoo, Illinois

This day was the roughest of our travels. We spend the entire day in the car driving from Laramie to Nauvoo. It could have been really painful but my mom and I had a great time listening to music and of course seeing some interesting people on the road. In fact, a semi driver got very angry with my mom (she wasn't driving fast enough for him) and he would roll down his window and his dog would hang out his head and bark at us. It happened two or three times and I have to admit we were a little worried about what he might do to us. Eventually, we passed him again and I waved and smiled and then he decided he would be nice and leave us alone. Whew! I sure was happy I decied to smile instead of doing another gesture.

Another sight that my mom and I got thought was hilarious was a car with this saying painted on his rearview window "Honk if You Are Horny!" We flew past him, but I sure wish my mom would have honked. I would have loved to see what the young kid driving the car would have done.

I have learned that I never want to live in Nebraska ever!!! It was so boring and flat. I was very happy to have finally arrived at Nauvoo later that night.

We spent a morning in Nauvoo visiting the temple, the blacksmith shop, the bakery, and the brick house. I had a lot of fun and I thought that Nauvoo was a beautiful place. We then traveled down to Carthage Jail. The tour was interesting and I loved being able to experience some of our church history.
