My summer is officially starting! I spent the whole day yesterday at the beach with my roommie Katie. It was in the 90's, the sand was hot, water iceberg cold (not kidding, it numbs your body, but that's okay cuz I don't get in the water anyway!), and the wind blew cool breezes constantly. I loved every minute of it! I hope this signs of a lovely summer to come. It was a perfect day!
Then the night came. One of the traditions for several of my friends here in Boston is to go night swimming in Walden Pond. Walden Pond is a state park and therefore, night swimming is not allowed. In other words, illegal. But I think that is 95% of the appeal of it all (also, it is dark so no one can see you in your swimsuit, you decide which has greater appeal.) Anyway, a few of us decide to go last night. I was really excited, this would be my first of hopefully many trips to Walden Pond at night. We get there, park our cars and begin the short walk to the pond. When suddenly a cop stops us and asks us where we are headed. I think he was giving us the benefit of the doubt and an opportunity to be honest because it was pretty obvious where we were headed dressed in swimsuits and holding towels. He firmly informs us that swimming at Walden Pond after dark is ILLEGAL. He then lets us know that if we choose to not return to our cars, our cars will be towed. Of course we head back to our cars, laughing all the way because this is the only time that my friends had been caught in the act. The police follows us all the way back to the cars and once again informs each and everyone of us that swimming at Walden Pond after dark is illegal.
All of us are sad that we are in our swimsuits and we feel that we should go somewhere. We decide to go to the beach. I was in the car that was following the lead car and we were taking some crazy roads and turns trying not to lose the first car. We quickly turn on a side street and just narrowly miss getting hit by a car trying to follow the first crazy car. Don't worry the car that almost hit us was a cop car. We are not on the side street for more than a second when the blue lights start flashing. Crap! We can't believe it, two cop stories in one night! Anyway, he just wanted to warn us that we were on a one way street going the wrong way. He then gave us directions to get to the beach. Whew!!!!
Eventually we end up at the beach. By this time it is pretty late (after midnight), and I know there is no way I am getting in the water. (As I mentioned previously, that water was freezing.) My awesome roommie Katie walks in, plugs her nose and goes all in! She is CRAZY!!!!! But that is why I love her and will miss her when she moves in a few weeks. She reminded me that I should have more fun in life and seize the moment more often. So maybe the next time I have the opportunity to enter a freezing body of water in the pitch black of night, I just might do it.

Great story! I miss you. :) Also, I need to call and get an update. Glad you're having fun out East.
Sounds fun! Glad you didn't get arrested :)
I am with you all the way. Cold water it not for me! I never got in the water at the beach when we were in Cali. Way too cold.
